United States Mint Police
Bill R. Bailey is the first Black Chief of the United States Mint Police. He is responsible for directing all protection programs and law enforcement functions for United States Mint facilities in Washington, DC; Philadelphia, PA; West Point, NY; Denver, CO; San Francisco, CA; and the U.S. Bullion Depository at Fort Knox, KY.
Before joining the United States Mint, he began his police career in the United States Air Force as a Security Policeman. In 2003, he retired from the United States Air Force Reserves with 20 years of service as a Security Police/Forces member. During his military career, he led and directed a correctional facility as well as security forces unit training and provided annual weapons training for more than 1,500 Air Force personnel.
In 1991, he began his career as an entry-level police officer at the United States Mint in San Francisco, CA. He progressed through the ranks to Police Inspector. While assigned at the San Francisco Mint, he developed a local training program. The training methodology utilized was implemented nationally. In 2000, he was promoted to the rank of Field Chief, Washington DC, then to Deputy Chief, United States Mint Police in 2003.
Bill received a B.A. degree in Business Management from Saint Mary’s College of California. He also received an M.A. degree in Organization Management from the University of Phoenix.
