West Point Mint
Dean Smith serves as the inspector for the United States Mint Police at the West Point Mint. He began his career with the U.S. Mint Police in 1997 and has formerly served as a police officer, patrol sergeant, facility training officer, and shift lieutenant for the West Point Mint Police.
In addition to the numerous leadership roles during his tenure with the Mint Police, Dean held certifications as a firearms instructor, defensive tactics instructor, ASP baton instructor, special response team commander, and general topics instructor.
Prior to his career with the Mint Police, Dean spent five years on active duty as a military police officer in the U.S. Army. Dean spent time overseas and was deployed during the Persian Gulf War and served throughout Operation Desert Shield, Operations Desert Storm, and the Liberation of Kuwait.
Dean has completed multiple supervisory and leadership courses throughout his 31 years of law enforcement career and is perusing his degree in criminal justice from Post University.
