Background
Released on May 2, 1995, the Special Olympics World Games Silver Dollar commemorates the Special Olympics World Games and recognizes the achievements of participants.
Recipient Organization: Special Olympics World Games Organizing Committee, Inc.
As defined by Public Law 103-328 specified that surcharges shall be used by the Special Olympics World Games Organizing Committee, Inc. to:- provide a world class sporting event for Special Olympics athletes;
- demonstrate to a global audience the extraordinary talents, dedication, and courage of Special Olympics athletes; and
- underwrite the cost of staging and promoting the 1995 Special Oljnnpics World Games.

Surcharges from the sales of these coins help fund a variety of organizations and projects that benefit the public. Commemorative coins are only available from the United States Mint for a limited time, as specified by public law.
Characteristics
The obverse design features a portrait of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the founder of the Special Olympics.
The reverse features an image of the Special Olympics Medal, a rose, and a quote from Mrs. Shriver.
