Background
This medal is a bronze duplicate of the Congressional Gold Medal awarded to Byron Nelson in recognition for his significant contributions to the game of golf as a player, a teacher, and a commentator.
Nelson (February 4, 1912–September 26, 2006) was an American PGA Tour golfer from 1935 to 1946. He was considered a top player in the sport of golf during the World War II era. His 54 career victories include a record 11 in a row.
