Christopher Polentz earned his BFA degree from the ArtCenter College of Design in 1985, graduating with honors. From 1985 to 2004, Chris worked in the Los Angeles area pursuing a freelance career, illustrating mostly for the entertainment and editorial market. Returning to college in 1999, Chris studied at Syracuse University in New York, earning a master’s degree in illustration.
From 2001 to the present, he has redirected his work toward “personal expression,” working with galleries on several solo exhibitions, group shows, and public art installations in the southern California area.
For over 38 years, since his graduation from the ArtCenter College of Design in 1985, Chris has taught art at the ArtCenter, Palomar College, MiraCosta College, Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, and currently, Irvine Valley College. Sharing his experiences as a freelance artist, he is passing along to his students the traditional methods of drawing and design, as he was taught. “When I was very young, I asked a professor how I could ever thank him for all he taught me, his reply was . . . ‘Share it’.”
