Walter O’Neal III is a California-based artist who has spent the last 18 years in the high-end collectibles industry. He has designed and sculpted statues and action figures for just about every major pop-culture property from Marvel, to DC Comics, to Lucasfilm. Contributing to some of the best-selling projects for each of the various companies he has had the opportunity to work with, Walter has proven himself to be a highly versatile artist, whose titles and contributions in that field have ranged from concept artist, sculptor, and art director.
Walter’s art is generally known for its highly detailed and expressive portrait work, as well as its thoughtful character and costume design. His award-winning sculpture and illustrations have been featured in Imagine FX magazine, and multiple annuals of the Spectrum published collections of contemporary fantasy art.
Walter is truly excited to share the story-driven design principles he’s gleaned over his nearly two decades long career and apply them to the varied and important subject matter that the U.S. Mint celebrates.
